The Concept of Fallacy is Empty A Resource-Bound Approach to Error

چکیده
In recent years model-based reasoning has achieved a certain prominence among logicians and cognitive scientists. Its repute is deserved, notwithstanding that it has some vigorous rivals. Although both model-based and non-model-based systems aim at elucidations of good reasoning, there are certain issues that challenge them equally across the lines of their respective theoretical and methodological differences. One of these challenges is as old as the history of systematic logic itself. It is the challenge to identify, analyze and set conditions for the avoidance of fallacious reasoning. Aristotle defined a fallacy as an argument that appears to be a syllogism but is not a syllogism in fact. A syllogism is a (classically) valid argument, none of whose premisses is redundant and whose conclusion is neither identical to nor immediately inferrable from any single premiss, hence is derived without circularity. Aristotle further provides that syllogisms not have multiple conclusions; and it follows from the non-circularity requirement that syllogisms not have inconsistent premisses. It is widely assumed by logicians of the present-day that syllogisms are of little relevance to the concerns of contemporary logic. This is a mistake. Aristotle’s syllogistic is the first ever relevant, paraconsistent, intuitionist, nonmonotonic logic.

An Intelligent Algorithm for Optimization of Resource Allocation Problem by Considering Human Error in an Emergency Department
Human error is a significant and ever-growing problem in the healthcare sector. In this study, resource allocation problem is considered along with human errors to optimize utilization of resources in an emergency department. The algorithm is composed of simulation, artificial neural network (ANN), design of experiment (DOE) and fuzzy data envelopment analysis (FDEA). It is a multi-response opt...
متن کاملComparison of the “Filled” Space of Iranian Painting with the “Empty” Space of The Far East Painting
Almost a particular insight is effective on the artist’s approach in creating quality of space in his painting. In fact, the general atmosphere in any painting is a reporter of artist’s thought and insight. By examining the foundational of ontology in their approach we have found some similarities and differences between the Iranian painting and the Far East painting. The purpose of this study ...
متن کاملAn Optimization via Simulation approach for the preemptive and non-preemptive multi-mode resource-constrained project scheduling problems
In this paper a novel modelling and solving method has been developed to address the so-called resource constrained project scheduling problem (RCPSP) where project tasks have multiple modes and also the preemption of activities are allowed. To solve this NP-hard problem, a new general optimization via simulation (OvS) approach has been developed which is the main contribution of the current re...

This paper proceeds directions of arrival (DOA) estimation by a linear array. These years, some algorithms, e.g. Khatri-Rao approach, Nested array, Dynamic array have been proposed for estimating more DOAs than sensors. These algorithms can merely estimate uncorrelated sources. For Khatri-Rao approach, this is due to the fact that Khatri-Rao product discard the non-diagonal entries of the corre...
متن کاملThe Meaning of Emptiness and Its Role in Islamic Architecture (Case Study: Historical Houses of Yazd)
In this study emptiness is considered as a transcendental and effective concept that appears in the form and content of things. What is seen as internally present in an entity is existent in the first instance because of the external presence of its opposite. The entity and its opposite are intertwined through the principle of inverse correspondence, a higher level of accord that emerges from t...
